Paul J. Kundtz
Principal
Paul concentrates his practice in commercial litigation, including contract, securities, business tort, trade secrets, corporate, real estate, partnership, creditor, construction, and product liability litigation. Paul has defended various parties in securities litigation involving individual and class claims, and has pursued securities claims against private sellers, promoters and brokers of securities. Paul pursues and defends contract claims for a wide range of products and services. He represents owners, investors, architects, contractors, sellers, buyers and title insurance companies in a wide range of real estate and construction related litigation. He represents shareholders, members, and partners in corporate and other entity disputes. He has represented Microsoft in several commercial lawsuits, including one in which he recently recovered more than $20 million in a contentious case shortly before trial. Paul served as co-counsel for Alcoa, and obtained a $75 million judgment following a three week jury trial. He has defended the manufacturers of a wide range of products, including two manufacturers of asbestos-containing products in more than 2,500 personal injury cases.
Education and Admissions
Paul received his B.A. from the University of Michigan, with distinction, in 1980 and his J.D. from the University of Michigan in 1983. He is admitted to practice in Washington, before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Professional and Community Activities
Paul is active in community affairs. Since 1996 he has served on the Board of the Seattle Aquarium Society (President 2002-2005). He has been a member and officer of the Board of Trustees of the Bloedel Reserve, a botanical garden and nature preserve. He was a Founder, Director, and President of the Bainbridge Island Trust (Director 1987-97; President 1990-91), and has been an elected Commissioner of the Bainbridge Island Park and Recreation District and a member of the Executive Committee of the Kitsap County Open Space Council (1992-95).
