Tim Hogan

Principal

Tim has worked for over 25 years in the energy/utility sector, both as an attorney and as a senior manager. His practice focuses on environmental issues, insurance recovery, general utility matters including energy policy, project development, rate regulation, energy supply, mergers and acquisitions, as well as business transactional work. Tim is also available for alternative dispute resolution and mediation.

Tim served as Vice President Legal for Washington Natural Gas Company and later as its Senior Vice President Energy Supply and its Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. After Washington Natural merged to form Puget Sound Energy, Tim served as Puget Sound Energy’s Senior Vice President External Affairs where he was responsible for governmental affairs, communications and rates and regulation.

Environmental Law: Tim represents clients involving multi-party hazardous waste sites. He also counsels clients involving insurance recovery for environmental response cost and the coordination of legal issues in complex environmental matters. He has led negotiations with local, state and federal regulatory agencies, other responsible parties and insurance carriers involving the clean up of a $40 million Superfund site.

Utilities: Tim represents utilities involving energy policy issues, project development, rate regulation, energy supply, mergers and acquisitions and matters involving state legislatures and Congress. He has led the preparation of general rate cases for electric and natural gas services and represented clients in numerous rate and investigatory proceedings.

Transactions: Tim has represented clients in a wide variety of commercial transactions including the sale and purchase of businesses. He helped oversee the merger creating the largest combination gas and electric utility in the Northwest.

Education and Admissions

Tim received his B.A. with Distinction in Economics from the University of Washington, magna cum laude, in 1973. He received his J.D. from the University of Washington in 1976. He is admitted to practice in the State of Washington.
