Harry E. Grant
Principal
Harry's practice emphasizes dispute resolution, regulatory compliance and corporate transactions in the environmental, energy and natural resource sectors. He represents companies in defending environmental enforcement and related claims under CERCLA, the Clean Air Act and similar local laws and in structuring transactions that involve environmental constraints. In addition to real property transactions, he often assists clients on the environmental components of stock and asset transactions and financings. He also represents clients in federal and state air regulatory rulemakings and compliance proceedings and in water rights matters. Harry has been involved in public policy issues concerning restoration of salmon habitat in the Pacific Northwest and on a national level working as an advisor to the U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution, to advance applications of alternative dispute resolution.
Harry's environmental projects have involved complex business transactions with pivotal environmental issues, cleanup of hazardous substances at prime urban sites and on marine waters, negotiation of environmental matters with regulatory agencies, federal and state air quality compliance, including Clean Air Act litigation; representing ecotourism businesses; and managing environmental permitting, audits and management system development.
Harry has worked on natural resource and commercial issues in the United States, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.
Away from his law practice, Harry enjoys cycling, climbing, mountaineering and skiing.
Education and Admissions
Harry received his B.S. from Western Washington University, magna cum laude, in 1979 and his J.D. from the University of Oregon in 1983 where he served as an associate editor of the Oregon Law Review. He is admitted to practice in Washington and before numerous federal courts including the U.S. Supreme Court.
