James E. Breitenbucher
Principal
Jim is a member of the Firm's Litigation and Product Liability practice groups.
Jim represents major corporations in complex commercial disputes in state and federal courts, and before arbitration tribunals throughout the United States. Jim focuses his practice on product liability, breach of contract and other claims related to product performance. Jim has also successfully defended at trial claims for fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, misappropriation of trade secrets and minority shareholder oppression. He regularly represents clients in disputes over non-compete agreements and other restrictive covenants. In addition, Jim has represented investors and financial institutions in fraudulent transfer cases arising out of massive hedge fund frauds, including Bayou Group and Manhattan Investment Fund.
Jim originally joined Riddell Williams in 1999, after serving a two-year clerkship for the Honorable Faye C. Kennedy of the Washington Court of Appeals. He practiced with Schulte Roth & Zabel in New York City from 2003 until rejoining Riddell Williams in 2007.
Education and Admissions
Jim has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Washington. He received his J.D., Order of the Coif, from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, where he was a Scholar in Law, received the Honor Scholar Award and served as an editor on law review.
Jim is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in Washington and New York.

Awards and Recognition
Jim received the King County Bar Association’s Outstanding Young Lawyer Award for 2002. He has also been named a Rising Star® by Washington Law & Politics magazine.
