Summer Associates

Law students who join us for the summer receive real work assignments and gain exposure to the breadth of law we practice while exploring their individual interests. We believe it is important to get hands-on experience during the summer through participation in depositions, discovery, client conferences, trials and transaction closings. In-house training programs, feedback on all projects and mid-summer reviews are all aimed at helping summer associates further develop their substantive skills. By the end of the summer, associates not only know what it's like to work at the firm, but have had the opportunity to experience life in Seattle and to get to know us personally. We plan summer events that are true to who we are-fun, relaxed and casual.

The majority of our summer associates are 2L's however, we will also consider, on a case-by-case basis, third-year law students seeking summer positions before a judicial clerkship. Riddell Williams participates in on-campus interviews at the University of Washington Law School and the Seattle University Law School. We also participate in the Northwest Minority Job Fair and the National Black Law Students Association Northwest Job Fair.

The Summer Associate program includes a Diversity Fellowship (PDF) that provides a second year law student with a position in our Summer Associate program and a $5,000 scholarship to defray tuition and expenses for the following academic year.

We are pleased to accept resumes from qualified law students at schools where we are unable to participate in the formal on-campus interview program. Interested candidates may apply between August 1 and October 1 for the following summer. To apply, send a cover letter, resume and law school transcript to:
